A government source has stated that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce his resignation today, Thursday, 7th July 2022. As he was disregarded by the Conservative Party’s lawmakers’ ministers, who said he was no longer competent in discharging his duties. The Downing Street office has confirmed this act of his confirmed that Johnson would make a statement to the country later.
Eight ministers, including two secretaries of state, had taken their final bow as officials a few hours ago, and the now irrelevant Johnson sets to join the list.
Despite his earlier resistance, Johnson was abandoned by all but few allies after the series of scandals he was tied in.
Justin Tomlinson, Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, said on Twitter, “His resignation was inevitable. But, as a party, we must quickly unite and focus on what matters. These are serious times on many fronts.”
As it is now, a two months election process for a leader is to be conducted by the Conservatives.
The scandals did Johnson dirty, and his support system tragically evaporated as his finance minister, Nadhim Zahawi, tweeted, “This is not sustainable, and it will only get worse: for you, for the Conservative Party and most importantly of all the country. You must do the right thing and go now.”
This period is indeed a down moment for Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
