Fake Manchester United Token Gains Over 3,000% Following Elon Musk’s Joke About Buying the Team

A dead coin, Manchester United Token has reportedly skyrocketed after Elon Musk jokingly tweeted earlier today about buying the club.

Note that this token is in now way connected to the club, Manchester United and doesn’t also represent the club’s official token. This fake coin was introduced about a year ago in August 2021 after some programmers who doubled as Manchester United’s fans claimed that holding their token will influence the football club’s decisions.

Apart from this dead coin, Manchester City’s fan token also experienced a price increase.

Also note that, following the price spike, the Tesla CEO has posted a follow-up tweet clarifying that he was actually joking.

In his words, “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.”
